LaFonte is a utility program to create 3D text and save it into a 3D file. 3D text can be created with any installed Windows TrueType fonts including 2-byte fonts. This means 3D text in Chinese, Japanese or Korean can be created. 3D text information can be saved into 3D files in popular formats like Autodesk .3ds, Wavefront .obj, VRML 2.0 .wrl, and Open Inventor .iv. LaFonte is a useful tool for 3D designers who want to create a 3D title or add 3D text into a 3D scene. LaFonte will also be a handy tool just for creating 3D text, where full featured 3D programs are too expensive and heavy. LaFonte is developed for designers doing 3D works on Unix workstaions using tools like Alias/Wavefront Power Animator or SoftImage 3D. With these 3D softwares, it was not possible to make 3D fonts from 2-byte fonts like Korean, Chinese and Japanese.
