The Power Image Classifier (PIC) is a tool that classifies or finds image files based upon their visual content. It uses templates, which are user-created lists of words or phrases. These templates define characteristics that may be present in an image. Any characteristic deemed pertinent to a certain subject can be used in a template.Images are classified according to whether or not they contain characteristics defined in a template. Who uses PIC? Educators, publishers, web authors, genealogists, cd publishers (classify the content of picture files for easy retrieval), archivists, photographers, artists, physicians, astronomers, meteorologists, map makers, law enforcement (suspects, crime scenes, etc.), libraries, botanists, geologists, pharmacists (what is this pill that is oval, pink, marked "77"?), the list is endless.
